Parent Involvement
Our school is committed to working with the parents of our students and the community to foster in its students a high regard for education, the self-confidence to think analytically, act independently and strive to achieve success both personally and for the community of man.
The James J. Flynn School will provide curriculum, instruction and facilities of the highest standards while striving for academic excellence by involving representatives of all segments of the school community in shared decision-making.
We will encourage our families to:

Monitor students’ attendance.

Assure that students arrive at school on time.

Make certain that students come to school dressed in the school uniform in order to comply with the mandatory policy.

Make sure homework is completed and planners are signed.

Attend parent / teacher conferences.

Membership in the school’s Parent Teacher Organization.

Volunteer to participate at school functions.

Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to their children’s education.

Stay informed about their child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district either received by their child, by mail or by phone.

Support the schools’ Assertive Discipline Plan and the districts’ Code of Conduct.

Attend Family Literacy and Family Fun Nights.
To be fully family-friendly, our school will provide:
- A welcoming environment
- Standards of welcoming behavior apply to all staff, including home school liaison, teachers, counselors, social workers, front office staff, security guards, custodians and cafeteria workers.
- Visitors and callers are greeted politely and can get information easily.
- Counselors, social workers and nurses provide guidance and information when needed.
- Programs and activities to engage families in improving student achievement.
